Volunteering

Volunteer with Lexington Living landscapes

We are an all-volunteer organization, and there is so much to do. With your help, we can accomplish more in educating, illustrating, and advocating for more sustainable landscaping in Lexington. It’s very rewarding work, and we’re fun to work with!

If you’re interested and want to learn more about volunteer opportunities, please write us at lexlivingland@gmail.com. We need help primarily in three areas:

Research and Writing

Educating people through our website and newsletter is our primary way of providing the tools people need to make their yards, neighborhoods, and town more healthy, nature-friendly, and resilient. We need help researching topics (e.g., lawn chemicals, light pollution, mosquito and tick control, etc.) and providing the results in clear, well-documented explanations and advice.

Communications

Getting the word out about what we do and what we’re learning is how we have an impact. Print media, social media, website, newsletter – if you have skills in these areas and are willing to help, let us know.

Work That Doesn’t Involve a Computer

From time to time, we need help out in the physical world. Examples are: working in our demonstration meadow pulling knotweed and tending pollinator-friendly plants, helping staff our information booth at street fairs, and organizing plant sales and garden & lawn tours. If one or more of these is something you’d enjoy, this might be for you.

Thank you!
